How Can Chronic Cough Along With Ear Infection Be Treated?

I have had upper respitory systems going for 3 1/2 weeks. Very bad cough constantly and nose and ear infection now with yellow nasal mucus..............I now am taking antibotics for the ears. Is this the flu? Or is this something that takes time to get over. thank you.

Hello,

Chronic cough may be due to:

1. Chronic allergy lead allergic variant of cough
2. Sinusitis with post nasal drip
3. Un-resolving pneumonia
4. Acid reflux with repeated aspiration
5. Chronic bronchitis et cetera

Avoid cool drinks and freeze water, avoid allergen causing the cough. Use water vapor inhalation, salt-water gargling, and antibiotics like Penicillin or Macrolide.

If symptoms do not improve, please consult your physician. He will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
