Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Chronic Cough And Chest Congestion Be Treated?
Can I take an expectorant with guaifensin at the same with a cough suppressant with 30mg dextromethorphan hydrobromide? I have some deep chest congestion with a dry hacking cough left over from my head cold that ended 6 days ago. The mucus is totally clear.
Get a chest x-ray done to know what it is causing you all these problems. Get a sputum culture to know the etiological agent.
With culture and sensitivity reports, you can go ahead and do investigations and rule out to come to any diagnosis.
It is very vague to haphazardly tell what could be the cause of all your symptoms and using cough suppressant and cough expectorant medication both is controversial kindly don't take such medications and go to a doctor for further evaluation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Archana
