Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My wife has been coughing for several years (since 2010) after taking a flu shot and pneumonia shot on the same day. Tested for asthma and has a slight case but no prescribed medications at present. She does use Ventolin inhaler and that use is becoming more frequent. She has a cousin that was recently prescribed Gabapentin 100mg and that helped her cough. My wife seems to have recurrent sinus infections even after 3 sinus surgeries. She is seeing her ENT again today. Any thoughts or suggestions?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Varinder's Response
Hi,
Please note that flu shot and pneumonia shot do not cause infection if a person is not HIV, uncontrolled diabetics or prolonged steroids. Secondly, gabapentin has no role in initiating or stopping the cough.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi, General & Family Physician
