How Can Chronic Cough And Sore Throat Be Treated?

My granddaughter has had symptoms for a week and a half. She has a bad cough, sore throat, green stuff when blowing her nose, eyes mattered shut in the morning. Took her to the doctor but doctor did not prescribe anything. Also tested for mono (negative) and did picture of her sinuses. What can she do to start getting better?

Hello,

You have not mentioned the age of your granddaughter cause it is important for making a proper diagnosis.

From the symptoms you have described it seems she has developed an upper respiratory tract infection.

She needs to take an antibiotic course so you should discuss it with your physician as they are prescription drugs. She should also do betadine gargles to relieve the sore throat.

She may also need antibiotic eyedrops as it seems she has developed an eye infection too.
