I am 67 yr old female ....with Hypertension well controlled on Losartan 100mg daily. Have HX of Sinusitis at least 2 - 3 x yearly possibly due to deviated right septum. Taking Allegra D has helped during the day but am finding it nearly impossible to sleep at night with persistent cough, scant amount of thick yellow mucus. Went to Urgent Care clinic 2 days ago ...Normal WBC, neg for strep. Tried Bromphenir/Pseudophed syrup but does nothing at night to help. Tried Albuterol inhaler..I can only rest at night if sitting straight up...How can I stop this night cough & get some sleep? Thank You !
Hi, very sorry to hear about your condition. I can understand how painful it might be at night. May I know if you have wheezing or not? And since how long you are getting this cough? If it is persistent for more than a week, you might require antibiotics. If Allegra is not helping at night, try some other antihistaminic anti allergic like combination of motelukast with levocetirizine. Take steam inhalation before going to bed and give chest physiotherapy so that the mucus gets loosen and come out easily. If it does not work, see a physician for further diagnosis and treatment. Get well soon.
