I have had a persistant cough with clear flem for 2 months. Get a tickle in throat and then cough then cough up the flem. It is winter here so rule out allergies? Did see my dr when it first started and she said that my lungs were clear. Tired of coughing all the time. Unable to go to meetings/movies because of it.

How Can Chronic Cough Be Treated?
Hi, Your symptoms could be due to viral or allergic bronchitis. If it is not associated with fever, wheezing, shortness of breath, chest congestion then nothing to worry and take following advises for next 7 to 14 days. - Take Cough syrup containing guaifenesin and dextromethorphan (Q tussin CF): 10 ml three times a day - Drink plenty of lukewarm water - Steam inhalation 3 to 4 times a day - Strepsil throat lozenges (neem and honey flavor): take every 3 hourly - Avoid cold beverages and exposure to pollutants - Avoid smoking If the cough persists despite using the above medication then further workup would be required by consulting the pulmonologist.
