Him- I am dealing with a cough - that comes in spares and sometimes very hard cough. I have taken cough medicine over the past 6 days - but I was wondering if this could also be an allergy cough - reason is my right temple is contracting or throbbing when I cough - help
There are many causes that your cough might be related to. You didn't mention any of the medications that you have been taking for your cough. You need a more detailed history and physical examination of lungs to decide about the diagnosis.
I suggest you to take antibiotic treatment for one week (Cefalexin), and mucolytics if you didn't take any of these. You should also consider cough caused from gastroesophageal reflux, it's a very common complaint. I suggest you to try taking Omeprazone twice daily (30 minutes before breakfast, and before sleeping) for two-three weeks.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards,
Dr. Suela Gjata,
