Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a chronic cough for over 7 months. I have had a chest x-ray, scoped throat, and nasal passages, blood tests showing only a inflamation somewhere . No indications of what is causing the cough. When the cough is sever and repeated, I have thrown up a couple of times. I am a 76 year old bladder cancer (removed 5.5 years ago) survivor and have a very active lawn maintenance business so I am in other wise very good health. Any suggestions. My prime concern is lung cancer although I have never smoked.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Your chronic cough with X-ray showing inflammation is a clear indication of developing asthma. If it is bacterial infection causing cough you need antibiotics, antihistamines & decongestants but if it is due to inflammation, take glucocorticoids and bronchodilaters to open up your chest airways.Visit ER and get physically checked & evaluated. In the meantime do regular exercises & maintain a healthy lifestyle, stay away from addictions and junk food.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
