Thanks for contacting with your health concern.
1. As I'm unable to examine you directly, thus notable points which can be discussed are:
i. having cough attacks while trying to eat could be due to :
. dysphagia [difficulty in swallowing], mainly obstructive.
. tracheoesophageal fistula
PS. Consult an ENT physician to exclude causes like allergy,
acid reflux and other causes of
laryngitis like
chronic sinusitis, bacterial/ fungal/
parasitic infection to complex causes like vocal cord strain/injury or growth, with suitable examination and investigation [barium swallow, indirect
laryngoscopy, and oesophagoscopy] or refer to an Otolaryngologist, till then
take
i. Voice rest,
soft diet, avoid spicy food.
ii. lukewarm saline mouthwash gargles.
iii. vitamin C tablets and zinc supplements [zinc lozenges]
2. As the symptom [coughing] is there for about 2 weeks, and there is no relief thus following should be your approach:
i. Ask for investigations like
. Hb%, WBC for eosinophilia
. X-ray chest for TB, Pneumonia
. If other investigations are normal, HIV test [as routine]
PS. As cough is there for > 15 days, thus this is an indication for immediate X-ray.
ii. The choice of antibiotic will vary from doctor to doctor, and from locality to locality
PS. Consult an
ENT specialist [for quick visual examination of the throat] and for any necessary investigation(s)
