How Can Chronic Cough Be Treated?

Hi... I have had a cough since Sept. of this year, first it was thought I had allergies .....but that was ruled out once I came home in Oct. since that time I have seen 3 different Drs. having different opinions...one said maybe a blood pressure pill could give me a chronic cough, so I quit taking for a week, but the cough continued, then my asthma Dr. increased my inhaler from 40mcg to 117mcg 2 puffs 2x a day, then the 3rd Dr. had me on antibiotics thinking it was the start of pneumonia...I am still coughing and nothing comes up, nor dose anything drain from my nose...I m a bit worried that it could be some form of cancer....can you help please? Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Chronic cough is usually due to allergy. I suggest you to take an anti-allergic drug after prescription from your primary healthcare provider. In addition, I also suggest you to get an upper GI endoscopy. Regurgitation is also likely to cause chronic cough.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
