How Can Chronic Cough Be Treated?

At what point should I see a specialist regarding a chronic cough I’ve had for 3 months. I’ve seen my primary doctor twice and the last prescription I received is for Prednisone 10 mg. The first prescription was a “Z” pack. The cough is not getting any better. Also lots of muscus. I am a 65 year male with diabetics. Thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You should be investigated for TB (Tuberculosis) and Aspergillosis. Aspergillosis and CT thorax, if the mucus is too much.

Expectorate to rule out chronic bronchitis or Bronchiectasis and also go for the treatment accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhadresh Lakhani
