General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The history you have provided does not give a full idea about what test have been done. However, tuberculosis is an important concern with high ESR and persistent cough.

Sputum AFB testing and PPD testing are recommended at this point. So, please be advised to discuss this with your physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal
