How Can Chronic Diarrhea Be Treated?

I have had diarrhea on and off for 1 1/2 months and at this point I m unable to eat anything besides bread. I have been taken Immodium, which relieved my symptoms for a day or two. However, my gut feels inflamed and I have a low grade fever. Do you have any advise as to what I should be eating?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
Chronic diarrhea on and off since more than 1 month along with low grade fever may be due to Intestinal TB/intestinal parasites/inflammatory bowel disease/malabsorption syndrome/diverticulitus.
Further management depends upon diagnosis. You may visit gastroenterologist for that
I would advise you for investigations-
USG abdo, stool routine and microscopy tests, blood test for HIV if high risk behaviour present.
-Avoid hot ,spicy, fried food and red meat.
-Include probiotics in diet like yoghurt.
Take soft diet.Include more of fruits and vegetables for antioxidants.
-Avoid alcohol and smoking.
-Take small frequent meals.

Thanks.
