Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has been dealing with diarrhea for about a month. It caused dehydration which he was treated for in ER. Blood tests were run and came back negative. A stool sample was taken and that came back negative. He had another stool sample taken to find out if there is another issue that didn t show up in the first stool sample. He dealt with loss of appetite, but that seems to be returning. Now he is experiencing aching in his jaw while eating. Can there be such a thing that he may contacted some type of parasite?
Hello welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.
For chronic diarrhea repeat stool sample should be submitted for stool routine micro examination and occult blood test. The stool culture also should be done. If parasite present than will be detected in stool examination. Maintain hydration with lots of water. Take Vital Z powder to maintain electrolyte balance. Investigate with serum TSH estimation to rule out hyperthyroidism. If history suspicious than rule out HIV by ELISA test.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
