How Can Chronic Diarrhea Be Treated?

Hello. I have had this issue for some time now and it has just become frustrating to say the least. I can not stay out of the restroom. I feel like I live on anti diarrheal medication! I thought it was from dairy, so I cut that out....nope. I thought it was from eating fried foods, which I already do not eat a lot of...nope. Ugh, no mater what I eat, I m in the restroom!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this-

1)To confirm it do a Lactose tolerance test and stool exam[RE/ME]

2)If confirmed try to limit dairy products and talk with your treating Doctor about oral calcium supplements.

3)Try to buy lactose-reduced or lactose-free products. You can find these products at most supermarkets in the refrigerated dairy section.

4)Try to use over-the-counter tablets containing the lactase enzyme (Dairy Ease, Lactaid, others) may help you digest dairy products. You can take tablets just before a meal or snack.

5)Take OTC probiotics caps twice a day until you feel better.

Hope that helps
