Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had dirahha for over a month with some bleeding. My bm s are very runny and kinda of goopy. I have a referral from my primary to see a gastro. doctor but I really don s want to go to a doctor s office right now because of the flu going around. Sorry bout the spelling. Medical words not my specialty. Thank you.
You have chronic diarrhea with bleeding in the stool. So infective etiology like amebiasis or bacterial enteritis should be ruled out. Proctoscopy rectal examination also needs to be done. Stool routine micro examination and occult blood test are done.
If stool shows pus cells and bacteria, then broad-spectrum antibiotic started. If stool shows ameba, then metronidazole might be needed. Consult gastroenterologist for examination.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Parth Goswami
