How Can Chronic Hydronephrosis Be Treated?

Hello, I am 27 years old. I have chronic hydronephrosis. At first it was just the left side but now the right side seems to be affected. The left is severe and the right is moderate. I have had the problem as an infant as well. And in the last two years it seems to have resurfaced. My kidney function on the left side is dramatically decreased and now the right seems to be suffering damage. The urologist I have seen said there isn t anything he can do bc a stent didn t seem to help. My question is what options should I look into now? Thank you

Hi There

After going through your query I understand your concer.

I would like to tell you that if uretral stent placement is not possible in your case then you can ask you urologist for per-cutaneous nephrostomy. This procedure will allow decompression of obstructed system and decreases the risk of urosepsis .

Nephrology consultation is highly recommended .

Hope to have been helpful.

Kind Regards
