Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mother have chronic knee pain and waist pain as well. and I think is arthritis because she has been complaining of the pains for the longest time. she is hypertensive and currently on hypertensive medications and she intermittently take Ibuprofen for her pain (knee, waist and shoulder), She have taken so many pain medicine like meloxicam but nothing seems to work. What medication do I get for her
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Better not to give her pain medication any more because painkiller drugs damage kidney and in hypertensive patients kidneys are already damaged. So consult orthopedic doctor and get done clinical examination and x ray of knee joint to rule out osteoarthritis (OA) of knee joint. If OA is there then she needs bilateral total knee replacement (TKR) surgery. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your mother. Thanks.
