Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
About 8 years agoI was diagnosed with menieres....I am currently 9 months pregnant with a c-section scheduled next Friday and my right ear fills clogged and I can hear wooshing kinda like a pulse in my right ear(it s really loud and only stops when I press on vein in neck). It s driving me insane and my Obgyn only looked in my ear and just put me on augmentin and said she would refer me only if that doesn t work. It has been 5 days and the antibiotics are not working I don t see the Obgyn again until Monday. I heard this in my ear before a lot but was never countinous and loud like this..
Meniere's can be associated with tinnitus, the abnormal noise that you are hearing but there are other causes as well that may need to be ruled out.
Pregnancy can worsen tinnitus in some persons so this may be a possible reason for the worsening.
Some of the other causes include side effect of medication, trauma, excess exposure to loud noises, excess ear wax, sinusitis.
It can also occur in thyroid disease, anaemia, high blood pressure. It would be best to call or get in contact with your doctor to see if you can get an early appointment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
