How Can Clostridium Difficile Infection Be Prevented From Spreading?
My wife is in the hospital with severe diff c. At home she had accidents on the hall a d bedroom carpets. There was blood in the feces. She wants us to dispose of all her current clothing at home.Is this necessary? How do we safely clean the carpet and bathroom?
Infection with C.difficile is contagious and transmitted through contact with infected feces. If you follow a good hygiene, there is no fear for spreading. It is not transmitted through air spores.
I do not think she should dispose of her current clothing as this infection is not transmitted by touching.
You can use bleach to safely clean the carpet and bathroom.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini,
