How Can Cold And Appetite Loss In An Infant Be Treated?

Hi. My baby is 11months old now. But when she was 10months, she had a really bad cold- runny nose, irritation and a little bit of loss of appetite for solid food. Went to the chemist and they prescribed Piriton for her, but 2.5mls three times a day. Is Piriton ok for her?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi i do care for your concern.
The drug that you have received is an anti histamine and has no role in treating loss of appetite.
I would advise
To consult your pediatrician and have examined thoroughly for any related disease.
and then breastfeeding should be continued till two years of age along with other supplementary foods.
Consider deworming if not done before.
Adhere to immunization schedule.
discuss about other supplementary foods available with your doctor, but home made foods are the best options.
Hope the condition resolves soon.
Hope i have answered your question, if you have more feel free to ask.
Thank you.
