How Can Cold And Cough Along With Fever In An Infant Be Treated?
Hello Doctor,My 9 months old baby girl is suffering from cold, cough and fever from last one week . Three days back visited to local government dispensary for the treatment . As per doctor’s advice my baby is having below medicine to cure pneumonia (they didn’t ask for Xray; just assume as per my baby’s coughing condition). 1. Amoxycillin oral suspension ip 125 mg 2. Promethazine syrup ip 5mg 3. Salbutamol sulphate syrup 4. Paracetamol paediatric syrup ip Could you please advice if it’s fine to continue these medicines or shall I go for second opinion with all proper check- up like Xray & blood test? Many thanks for your help...Regards, Gopal
Based on the history you have shared, it's fine to continue these medications as doctor must have advised based on clinical examination showing signs of respiratory tract illness. However, if symptoms persist despite completion of these medications then further workup with chest X-rays and blood counts may be required and alternative antibiotics like Azithromycin may be needed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thank you.
