General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, Yes it is a cold sore caused due to herpes simplex virus usually followed by flu or cold may also occur due to stress or sunlight. It will heal itself within 10 days, avoid frequent touching or bursting the lesions as it may leave a scar. Apply sunscreen before leaving for outdoors. You can also apply antiviral creams containing acyclovir or penciclovir to speed up the recovery.
