Hello and welcome to HCM.
I have gone through your question and understand your concern.
Troubled breathing is because of congestive heart failure.May I know if he is on any other medications besides oxygen therapy ?Congestive heart failure in itself is a symptom and not a disease.it is necessary to rule out the cause and then act on it.It demands certain investigation. Therefore,I recommend you to visit a cardiologist/ER where the patient can be put under continuous monitoring.
Also,he has hip injury. It may require blood transfusion and pain killers. The risk benefit ratio of these interventions in background of congestive heart failure has to be assessed and further steps taken. This needs action from a specialist and a setting where equipment for monitoring are present.
If I were your treating doctor,I recommend,
-Low salt diet.
-Low fluid intake
-Referral to cardiologist for considering treatment with diuretics, digoxin, anti coagulants, dopamine or any other surgical interventional measures.
-Referral to orthopaedician as treatment for hip injury has to be done keeping in mind the background status of patient.Certain investigations may be necessary like kidney function tests, echocardiography, serum electrolytes.
Hope this information helps.
Wish your husband speedy recovery. You can return to me here with any query if you want.
Thanks.
