How Can Conjunctivitis Be Treated?

I went to the doctor on 18 august as my eyes were really red, and they said it was probably conjunctivitis and gave me antibiotic drops. i used them for 5 days and it went away for about the next week. It returned about a week and a half ago and despite using the drops, is not going away, what else should i be doing?

I understand your concern
You have develop recurrent conjunctivitis.
It could be viral, bacterial, allergic.
Physical examination and culture of the eye discharge will help in diagnosis after consulting the ophthalmologist.
Doctor will give following advices for next 7-10 days.
Maintain proper hygiene
Antibiotic eye drops: fusidic acid plus tobramycin
Put eye drops as frequently as once in a hour.
Avoiding close contact with others and use separate handkerchiefs, towels, bed sheets. It will help to prevent spread of infection to others.
Tablet Monteleukast tab once a day,
Put lubricating tear/artificial tear drop.
