Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Constant Diaper Rashes In The Butt Crack Be Treated?
I am a private child care provider. I ve had 3 children of my own, 4 grandchildren and I ve watched 8 different infants, toddlers and preschoolers over the last 12 years. I currently have a 20 month old who has had a diaper rash for MONTHS. This is not an exaggeration. It will not clear up. It is concentrated in the crack area of the bottom. It is prickly. What should his parents be doing about this. I have no authority other than making suggestions.
As per my clinical experience, the issue here for diaper rash is to avoid diaper as the first and foremost step to be considered.
Because unless the causative agent is persistently irritating the area, one can not predict the healing.
Secondary care with local application of polymycin cream to avoid secondary bacterial infection and heal anyone if existing. Hygiene after defecation is utmost important.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Purva Patel, General & Family Physician
