How Can Constipation In An MS Patient Be Treated Despite Taking Dulcolax?
I have taken 2 dolcolax tablets the last two nights in a row. I still have not had a bowel movement. I have MS and get constipated sometimes. I had a bowel movement Friday so I don t think I have a blockage. Should I take 3 tonight with a large glass of water?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
You can try newer laxatives like “prucalopride” which is more effective and has got lesser side effects. It is available over the counter and popular brands are resolar and resotrans. It is now recommended as drug of choice for chronic constipation. You can take more fiber rich foods for smooth bowel movements. If constipation persist, you have to consult a physician and in enema may be required.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
