How Can Constipation In An Infant Be Treated?

A week ago my daughter s pediatrician thought she had a milk base allergy, so we switched to soy formula and I m currently on a no dairy diet. We took a stool sample in Thursday and the results came back negative to having and not in the still too indicate a milk allergy. She has not mad a bowel movement since Friday evening, she s been pushing and trying to but nothing but gas comes out. Since there s no indication of a milk allergy can we go back to regular formula?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If there is no indication of a milk allergy than I suggest to go back to regular formula but of course after another consult with your pediatrician. About the constipation I will suggest to help your baby with massage of abdomen ti increase intestin movement. In case your baby have more than 3-4 days without bowel movement try to use microklisme.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
