Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 18 month old has been running a fever for 3 days. It's been up 103.3 but comes down when I give her metroin and or Tylenol, but when it wears off it goes back up. She has seen a doc today but they didn't find nothing wrong with her. I don't know what to do?
Hello, Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic! I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.
Most probably it could be a part of URTI(upper respiratory tract infection). You don't need to worry as it can be readily curable with timely treatment. I suggest you to consult a pediatrician and get the following things done:- (1) Do basic blood and urine investigations. (2) Paracetamol syrup for fever. (3) Tepid sponging with tap water can also help to reduce the body temperature. (4) A short course of antibiotics can be tried empirically. Amoxicillin is the preferred drug for infants. Most cases subside with in few days with these measures, if symptoms persist despite all these, additional investigations may be required. Wishing you all the best. Regards, Dr Shinas Hussain
