Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am an 87 year old woman and am in excellent health. However, I recently had a bout with Bercititus (sp) about 2 months ago. I have a cough and what seem like heart burn rather often lately. I am wondering if it might symptoms of my heart problems. Thank you, Nancy Sowaal YYYY@YYYY
If you have a history of heart disease or uncontrolled high blood pressure then it is possible that the cough may be related to the heart if there are other concerning symptoms eg chest pain, shortness of breath
Cough can sometimes persist after a chest infection and heartburn is usually related to reflux rather than heart disease. Reflux can also cause a persistent cough to occur as well.
It may be best to visit your doctor to let him or her know about your symptoms.
I hope this helps
