Hi my name is sherry I have had a problem with cough and more importantly Clearing My THROAT. for past couple months. I have never had allergies. but my MD suggested that could be it. I tried Mucus ER and Mucus DM and she rx loradidine. I also tried Benadryl . I am producing very little phlem if any.. I am also sweating more than usual I am use to hot flashes ( I am in menapause). Back to the clearing of throat it seems when i get started I cannot stop!! I have been trying to see what brings it on.. so when im inside in apt all day that should rule out allergies right?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The symptoms which you are describing indicate more toward allergic cough only. Staying in the apartment all day actually doesn't rule out allergy completely. You should look for other allergens in apartment like blankets, house dust, cotton, cushion covers, pets, etc. You might be allergic to any of them. So, please avoid exposure to dust and other things .That is the best way to avoid allergic cough. You will need antiallergics whenever you have extreme cough. No way to escape from them but avoid exposure to allergens.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Khan Shoeb Mohammad Sher Mohammad
