How Can Cracked Nipples Be Treated While Breastfeeding?
Hi doctors Im having cracked nipple from 3weeks( from my child birth) i took antibotic also and now using lanolin cream. Literally i have an open crack.. and feeding is very very painful.. can i use soframycin for quick recovery. Is it safe for my baby.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I wouldn't advise you to use Soframycin cream on your nipples as it is not safe for the baby. It is best to use the lanolin cream you have been prescribed as it will help to heal the cracked nipples. Another natural way to soothe cracked nipples is to apply unsalted butter. Also it is very important that you ensure that your baby is latching properly during feeding.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nazma Amman
