How Can Degenerative Disc Disease And Neuropathy Be Treated?

I am 66yo and have Degenerative Disc Desease neuropathy and everything that goes with it. For 20 years I had a Fenteynal pain pump. C45 surgeries and L45 lam. I have been subjected to everything and anything good bad after 17 yrs I started also needing po pain meds for breakthrough pain. I was told 35 yrs ago at the University of Va. that I would get worse until no one could help me. All of a sudden my pain meds were DC d I could not understand why at the time. I went through withdrawal for every med at home alone. They almost killed me. I have terrible sciatic pain, neuropathy and now my knees have joined the party. When Doc s see my MRII they say they cannot help me. I feel they are refusing tx. which is against the law. I was an RN for 30 years which contributed to the progression. I wake up with pain and have very little sleep. I have had periods where I am unable to move my legs and it is not physcologogical. I fear if this continues I am seeing Nsg, Home real soon, Do I have any options?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You can take NSAIDS twice a day for 5 days. You can take ANTACIDStwice a day for 5 days. Apply Diclofenac spray on affected site. Apply warm water bag on affected site. If not resolved then consult your orthopedic surgeon. Do X-ray of affected part, do physiotherapy, it is also helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
