Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i have tooth sensitivity and pain along the top of my gums. the tooth sensitivity increases with hot and cold temperatures. I also had a permanant crown put on a nearby tooth but that tooth is not sensitive. What can i do? I have had cold sores before but i don t remember the tooth sensitivity with it.
As per your complain sensitivity of teeth and pain in gums can be due to cause can commonly cause like Dentinal Hypersensitivity due to opening of the nerve endings on the teeth due to wearing of the tooth structures..
In case if it is resent in a single tooth it can be due to decay or fracture in the tooth..
In case if there is generalized pain in gums hat is specifically upper jaw gums and along with facial pain and nasal congestion it can be due to Sinus infection or Sinusitis..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and in case of dentinal hypersensitivity you will be advised desensitising toothpaste along with avoiding extremely hot or cold foods.. If there is tooth decay then root canal treatment will help.. In case if there is sinus related problem then a course of antibiotics and painkillers along with decongestants can help..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
