They also added Zoloft which I m very unhappy about due to the fact that he s only 16 and I do not feel it safe for teenagers. They give him 800 mg of Serequel at bedtime and have totally discontinued the hydroxyzine, using chlorazepan PRN instead. I am very unhappy with his course of treatment at this hospital. They have yet to call me after leaving several messages several visits to the hospital they were too busy to talk. At the meeting they simply recommend a residential treatment and within five minutes of meeting is over. I m very concerned that he is not being properly treated. Hi,

I understand that it can be very difficult to adapt to medication changes. However, Hydroxyzine have potential to cause sedation and addiction problems especially in teenagers. That must be the reason for discontinuing Hydroxyzine for your son.

Moreover, Hydroxyzine when combined with Seroquel can add to sleepiness and tiredness which can affect his performance at school.
One thing that can be tried is to slowly taper off the dose of Hydroxyzine before completely discontinuing the medication. Zoloft has high risk for suicidal tendencies in teenagers. So please be advised to discuss with his treating physician to see if Zoloft is absolutely necessary for him.

Hope I have answered your query.
