Hi umm so I was wondering how do you deal with depression? I m a single mom of two beautiful children. I love them and my family very much yet I can t grasp those things to pull me thru. Also I have a wonderful girlfriend however me not being able to deal or handle my depression has caused her to push away which hurts me even more. I m lost and I don t know what to do I really need some help
Depression is a real disease and needs to be medically treated. There are several options for treatment but it is important that you do get in contact with a doctor and get regular checks together with taking medication regularly. The most used medications are in the group of SSRI like citalopram or sertraline. They are generally taken daily for months to a year most of the time and meanwhile it is recommended to have some counseling and psychotherapy to help you handle emotions and dealing with the thoughts the right way.
Having a healthy lifestyle like trying to be active and exercise regularly, avoiding caffeine and alcohol or smoking, eating healthy balanced diet, going for walks and meeting friends and family are all things that might be very helpful.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
