How Can Depression Be Treated?

I have consulted a psychiatrist before due to depression and got the results below. At the time I was only interested in knowing what was wrong and try to deal with it in my own terms. Depression has gotten worse so I would like to know what treatment is available. Tests revealed evasive tendencies characteristic of the insecure, minimal cooperation suggesting negativism and hostility toward people and poor interpersonal relationships. Borderline, schizoid, schizotypal and avoidant personality disorders were endorsed. She is perceived by others as passive-aggressive, hostile and guarded. Superior level of intellectual functioning... her interpersonal value score falls within the low average level.

Thankyou for asking your question at health care magic

Depression can be treated with a combination of psychotherapy and medications.
The most approved medication commonly used for depression are SSRIs(Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors). There are several medication in this class like paxil, zoloft, celexa etc.Other medications like effexor, welbutrin are also used as second line medication.
However depending on other symptoms you have along with depression other psychtropic medications may also be needed.
It is difficult to tell which medication works best.It is usually done by trial and error depending on side effects you have on these medications and the benefits.

If you develop suicidal thoughts/thoughts of hurting yourself, contact your doctor immediately/seek help.

I recommend that you consult your primary care practitioner/ psychiatrist to get further evaluation and need for medication.
Hope I was able to answer your questions
Please feel free to address any more concerns
