How Can Dermatitis Since Birth Be Treated?

ever since my son was born he has had the dermititis (or yellowish scales) on his head. It doesn't really seem to go away even after I did the oil treatment followed by combing. Is it something more serious? Could his immune system be weak? He is in great health otherwise.

Hi
Welcome to HealthCareMagic

You have not mentioned age of your son. By your description it seems to be a case of seborrhea capitis/dermatitis ,Y ou need to use antiseborrheic shampoo like selsun or nizral , depending upon age of your child and consulting your doctor .Also mild topical steroids like Flutivate-E may be used.Any secondary bacterial or fungal infection ,if present needs to be treated. It is not due to weak immune system but related to activity of sebaceous glands .
Hope I answered your query
Revert back if any other query
thanks.
