How Can Developmental Delays In A Child Be Treated?
My son just recently turned 6 years old started kindergarten. At the age of 3 he was diagnosed with developmental delays. At age 5 he was diagnosed autistic. His teacher is constantly sending me notes and emails on his behavior at school and asking how I discipline my child and if I am holding him accountable for his actions. How do I get her to understand his disability?
Hello there. I have read through your question and I understand your concern. An autistic child needs a lot of patience and understanding. It is very important that her teacher is aware of his condition and understand s it properly so that she knows how to deal with him. Otherwise it will cause a lot of distress for the child as well as the teacher. I would therefore suggest you to talk to his teacher and explain his condition to her very clearly. It would be even better if you could make her talk to your child's pediatrician as it will give her a better understanding of the situation. I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write.
