Hi .welcome to "Ask A Doctor service". I have read your question and here is my advice .
woth this level you are right you need another drug To be honest we can add from any group but the side effects you mentioned are those of pioglitazones so we can avoid that.. A good choice to add is a sulphonylurea like glimipride however if you are obese this may not be very good choice .them we can add a gliptin like sitagliptun.
howe'ver we can have many choices but that depends , I would advise you should do it after seeing your doctor .though i would like to add sulphonylurea .
