How Can Diarrhea Along With Fever Be Treated?

Yes...I was given a drug, Clarithromyc 500 mg, yesterday and had only taken one and woke up with diarrhea, 101 fever and a slight swollen face and felt terrible. Called my doctor and she ordered a new one, Amoxicillin capsules 500 mg. I am afraid to take them for the paper work the pharmacist gave me on it as the same cautions and side effects. What is your suggestion?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to Healthcaremagic. As pour query you have diarrhea along with fever which seems to be due to potential side effect of antibiotic medications and sometimes it could be due to parasitic infection as well.

Complication of diarrhea is dehydration, i would suggest you to maintain water balance of your body and take oral rehydration solution. Have proper rest . Avoid too much oily food and take rice banana and bread toasts in diet. Most of the time it will go away by its own in 3-5 days if we manage it properly. High fever in case of diarrhea is matter of concern. So you should visit general physician once if symptoms do not subside and start treatment accordingly. Take loperamide for frequent stools and paracetamol for fever.
