How Can Diarrhea And Abdominal Cramps Be Treated?

Hi. I travelled from Australia to Thailand 7 days ago. By the fourth day I fell sick with diarrhoea and severe sweating, but I felt better that night. General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It seems to be viral gastroenteritis infection. Symptomatic management done for that. Pantoprazole 40 mg OD for 7 days can be prescribed. Avoid gastric irritants like excess spicy foods, smoking, excess tea, coffee, etc. Drink more water and ORS also. Probiotic tablet also can be prescribed for five days. If no improvement than further work up needed in form of stool routine micro examination and occult blood test. According to stool report further management plan decided and antibiotic started if needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
