How Can Diarrhea And Appetite Loss In A Child Be Treated?
Hi,my son has been passing loose watery motion once or twice a day,his appetite has also been affected. The dr.has given him gazyme syrup for 2weeks and bifilac for 3days.today is the last day for bifilac but he is still passing watery stools.wat should i do?
** Thanks for contacting HCM with your health concern and following should be the approach:
1. if the child has watery loose motions and mild dehydration [increased thirst and irritability]: - Orolyte is the most important part of treatment, more important than the drugs - Redotil [racecadotril] 15 mg sachet [thirce daily] till watery motions stops. - Syrup Kaltin with neomycin 1-2 tablespoon 4 hourly
2. If dehydration is moderate [child is very thirsty, tongue becomes dry, skin turgor is lost, eyes are sunken, urine output reduces] or is Severe [child looks very sick, dehydrated and is still & quiet, pulse is feeble and urine stops] take him immediately to a hospital or Pediatrician
