How Can Diarrhea And Body Rashes In An Infant Be Treated?

Hi doc.. My baby is 7+ months and was having on and off loose stools and once or twice passed stools with froth and now has developed severe rashes.. A doc suggested that may be due to lactose intolerance so baby should be shifted from similac 2 to zerolac.. Is it fine or or should I take some other precaution as well. Pls advise..

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern.

Having on and off loose stools are indicating food intolerance (probably lactose intolerance as most common).

I too agree to shift to zerolac and observe his stool how they appear.

Severe rashes need further clinical examination as it could be due to food allergy. If you introduced any new food to him, please stop it and report this to his pediatrician for further evaluation and treatment.

All the best.
