How Can Diarrhea And Nausea After Gallbladder Removal Be Treated?

Hello I am 35 female who had my gallbladder taken out about 11 years ago. since then I have been dealing with bile salt diarrhea and more recently have been having burning sensation in upper stomach. comes after I eat or middle of night and mornings I feel so nauseated. I Told my gastro Doc and he wanted to do a scope, how ever my insurance will not cover most of it and I cant afford the test. That was back in Feb. of this year. recently I am having more painful episodes so I am asking if I should go to ER or not? help!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and welcome to `Ask A Doctor` service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

* As per my surgical experience, this sounds to be post
cholecystectomy syndrome from variety of causes.

* In our clinic, I recommend my patients to undertake an MRI of
abdomen & pelvis with diagnostic ERCP for further management
guidelines .

Feel free to post further doubts.
Thank you.
