My husband is having diarrhea for some time. He is on the following meds. I think it may be a medication since his colonoscopy showed nothing on it. He is on Carvedilol 25mg 1/2 tab 2x a day, Isosorbide 60mg 1a day, Lansaprazole 15mg bid Fenofibrate 145mg daily, Entresto 24mg daily, and Levemir flextouch.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.Based on the history you have shared, and having Levemir in his drug history he must be diabetic as well if I have read it right and that is one cause which may result in chronic diarrhea due to autonomic neuropathy. Hopefully, I will relieve with addition of Domperidone which smooths gastric mobility however in some cases antibiotic like erythromycin might help as well.
'Rarely nitrates among his drug history may also cause relaxation of sphincters and smooth muscles of gut causing rapid bowel movements however may rarely he the cause.
However other causes of infection should also be ruled out with stool analysis and cultures.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
