Hi,

As per your clinical history, it may take up to 10 days so please follow like this:

1) Do a clinical examination by your Doctor [Ped] and check his stool [RE/ME] to confirm the exact cause of loose motion.

2) Add [ORS] fluid every hour to prevent dehydration and add [Probiotic] to normalize intestinal flora. Add antibiotics if confirmed in stool exam only.

Do follow lifestyle modifications like this:

1) Discuss with your treating Doctor about vaccinations against gastroenteritis caused by the rotavirus given to children in the first year of life, the vaccine appears to be effective in preventing severe symptoms of this illness in future.

2) Try to wash your hands thoroughly. It's best to use warm water and soap and to rub hands vigorously for at least 20 seconds.

3) Try to use separate personal items around your home. Avoid sharing eating utensils, glasses and plates. Use separate towels in the bathroom. Avoid close contact with anyone who has the virus, if possible. Disinfect hard surfaces. If someone in your home has viral gastroenteritis, disinfect hard surfaces, such as counters, faucets, and doorknobs, with a mixture of two cups of bleach to one gallon of water.

4) Try to give your child to drink only well-sealed bottled or boiled water.

5) Try to breastfeed your infant as much as possible and try to avoid feeding bottles.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Uday Nath Sahoo
