How Can Diarrhea In An Infant Be Treated?

My baby has diarrhea for 12 days. The doctor advised stool test. Revealed PUS Cells 8-10 in the stools. Prescribed injection for 3 days. But I and my wife both are very worried as our baby is becoming weak day by day having watery stools. Is there anything we can follow to recover our baby soon. Please, any advice?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Frequent watery diarrhoea can lead to severe dehydration which in turn leads to weakness. It is very important to control the diarrhea and restore the fluid loss through fluid therapy and IV antibiotics. Once the diarrhea has stopped the baby will recover slowly.

I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing healthcare magic!

Regards,
Dr. Nazma.amman
