How Can Dizziness And Brain Fog Be Managed While On Levofloxacin?

Hello, I have been taking levofloxcin 500mg one per day prescribed for 7 days. I have had 3 days so far and am feeling as if I have a very foggy head; not sure if I would describe it as fully dizzy or lightheaded but something in between (off feeling). I’m hesitant to take another dose to tonight. Is this a common side effect and should I be concerned?

Hello,

You are prescribed Levofloxacin (500mg) and have been taking it . Presently, you are experiencing dizziness and brain fog. You have not mentioned or given any details of your illness for which you have been prescribed Levofloxacin. Some patients do experience dizziness, brain fog or light headedness after taking levofloxacin.

You are suggested to talk to your treating doctor regarding the side effects you are experiencing so that the medicine can be replaced by some other medicine that suits you better. Do not take another dose if you are hesitant to take it. Take rest and re-hydrate yourself with water, fluids, warm/hot beverage so that you feel better.

Do not skip meals and take home made balanced nutritious diet. Avoid driving and do not do any heavy work. Stay away from addictions if any. In case you are continuing to have dizziness you are advised to get clinically assessed by an ENT to detect or rule vertigo. You will be treated accordingly. Maintain your blood glucose level and blood pressure to normal levels. Maintain healthy weight.
