How Can Dizziness While On Latuda Be Treated?

My 21 year old daughter has been on depakote for 4 years to treat clonic tonic and absence seizures. She has recently been diagnosed as bipolar and has been on various SSRI s for most of the past 7 years due to the treatment of depression to counteract the anti seizure meds. She has just started Latuda and is having difficulty with dizziness/nausea. Her prescribing counselor has recommended she take the medication with a 1200 calorie meal. This seems extreme. What recommendation would you give to help alleviate the side effects?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Latuda is having Lurasidone. It is atypical antipsychotic drug. It absorb well with food. So to prevent systemic side effects it is advisable to take it with meal or immediately after meals. Follow this. Her side effects will definitely subside.

Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your daughter. Thanks.
